Empowering Teachers | Transforming Classrooms | Inspiring Students
At NAVS, we believe in a future where science education is compassionate and innovative. Humane life science education emphasizes alternatives to animal use in classrooms, supporting both scientific discovery and animal welfare. Join us in making a difference by bringing humane education to more schools, ensuring students can learn and explore without harm to animals.
Real Teachers. Real Classrooms. Real Change.
Meet the educators who have transformed their classrooms with humane science practices. With support and resources from NAVS, they are leading the charge in compassionate learning, proving that students can excel in science without causing harm to animals.

Paper Dissection Models from Getting Nerdy, Altay PVC Pig Model
"Students were really excited to see the pig models. They liked getting to take all of the structures out of the model and then trying to figure out how it all fit back together. This lesson really got the students asking questions about how the body works as a whole, leading to better classroom discussions than traditional dissections did."
Maria Berezniak – J. Sterling Morton East High School, Cicero, IL
Dissection Paper Models Bundle from Getting Nerdy
"As an advocate for animal rights and humane treatment of ALL animals, I fully support teaching students the humane way. Students enjoyed having an actual model and finished product at the end of the dissection. I displayed the models around the room, and many teachers commented on how neat they were."
Why Humane Science Education Matters
Humane science education is a forward-thinking approach that replaces harmful animal testing and dissection with modern, ethical alternatives. It ensures students receive the highest quality education while fostering a sense of responsibility and respect for all living creatures.
Our Mission:
- Equip teachers with humane resources for their classrooms
- Provide alternatives to animal dissection, including virtual labs, 3D models, and more
- Support school districts in transitioning to compassionate science education
How We Carry Out Our Mission:
- Since 2022, we have distributed $17,540 in grants, allowing us to support 19 teachers in schools across the country.
- In the past two years, BioLEAP has directly impacted the education of more than 800 students.
- Since our inaugural grant cycle in 2021, we have seen a nearly four-times increase in applications from educators eager to incorporate humane science practices into their curriculum.
- Attending numerous educational and science fairs and conferences in order to engage with educators directly and demonstrate its humane science products.
- Acting as an advocate for laws and policies that positively affect students, teachers, and learning. Fighting for laws that give students a right to opt out of traditional dissection, as well as those that encourage school systems to opt for economically and environmentally friendly humane science tools.
Bring Humane Science to Your School
NAVS offers grants, materials, and hands-on support to help teachers and schools implement humane tools in their life science classes. Whether you're a teacher, administrator, or advocate, we have resources that can help you start the conversation and transition to a humane education model.
