The National Anti-Vivisection Society (NAVS) is proud to announce that it has once again earned a Four-Star Rating from Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest and most trusted evaluator of nonprofit organizations.

The Four-Star Rating is Charity Navigator’s highest distinction, awarded to organizations that demonstrate strong financial stewardship, accountability, and transparency. The recognition reflects NAVS’ ongoing commitment to using donor support responsibly while advancing its mission to end the exploitation of animals used in science.

A Recognition Built on Trust

For nearly a century, NAVS has worked to create a future where scientific progress no longer depends on animal suffering. Through advocacy, education, research funding, and support for animals retired from laboratories, the organization continues to advance innovative, human-relevant approaches that benefit both people and animals.

Achieving Charity Navigator’s highest rating reinforces the principles that guide every aspect of that work.

“Trust is at the heart of everything we do,” said Sally Draper, Executive Director of NAVS. “This recognition reflects our commitment to transparency, responsible stewardship, and accountability to the supporters who make our work possible.”

Every donation entrusted to NAVS helps support initiatives that advance humane, human-relevant science, expand educational opportunities through programs like BioLEAP, advocate for policies that reduce animal experimentation, and provide funding to sanctuaries caring for animals formerly used in research.

Why Charity Navigator Matters

For many donors, Charity Navigator serves as an independent resource for evaluating nonprofit organizations before making a charitable gift.

Organizations receiving a Four-Star Rating have demonstrated a strong commitment to sound financial management and transparent governance, helping donors give with confidence.

As one of the nation’s leading nonprofit evaluators, Charity Navigator assesses organizations based on criteria including financial health, accountability, and organizational transparency.

For NAVS supporters, the rating offers independent confirmation that contributions are being managed responsibly and directed toward meaningful, mission-driven impact.

Looking Ahead

While awards and ratings are meaningful, they are ultimately a reflection of something much larger: the trust placed in NAVS by its supporters.

Every donor, advocate, member, volunteer, educator, researcher, and partner plays an important role in advancing the organization’s mission. Their support fuels efforts to promote human-relevant science, improve science education, strengthen public policy, and create brighter futures for animals used in research.

As NAVS continues its work to accelerate the transition to science without suffering, the organization remains committed to the values that earned this recognition: integrity, transparency, and responsible stewardship.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has placed their trust in NAVS,” Draper said. “This recognition belongs to our entire community. We remain committed to earning that trust every day as we work toward a future where science is more ethical, more effective, and more human-relevant.”
